Songs of Note
Contributors

Here’s some information on the contributors to Songs of Note. If you’d like your entry to include a picture, a caption, and a short biographical sketch (100 words or so), contact Songs of Note with what you’ve got. Pictures will be resized to match what you see here (so please try to submit one that’s roughly square and bigger than 250 by 250 pixels, so it won’t need to be stretched), and captions and bios may be edited for length and clarity. Thank you!

Dennis Kelly
Dennis Kelly Began rock career by acquiring early Bo Diddley cuts on 78-rpm records in mid-1950s. Attended University of Colorado at Boulder, 1958 to 1962. Heavily influenced by Tex-Mex sound of groups like the Crickets and Fireballs, after initial grounding in New York doo-wop. Known to have been present at the Chocolate Drop Hop, circa 1961, in Boulder. After leaving Colorado, is thought to have penned initial draft of memoir Bleak Vistas; work was never published. Dropped out of sight in mid-1960s, shortly after this snapshot was taken, and is now reportedly living as a recluse in southwestern desert.

Cop a hike. Okay?

Jim Kelly
Jim Kelly His birth heralded by a total solar eclipse, Jim Kelly’s path as a creative force of unparalleled influence was ensured. As half of the seminal duo JJ Top, Kelly cowrote and performed 10 albums of critically acclaimed material from 1986 to 1991, an otherwise sterile, undistinguished period in pop music. In the 1990s, his output continued apace, in groups such as SpaceKampCity and the enormously successful Hot Dog. Now semiretired and living beneath western skies, he is content to let his more than 20-year career speak for itself.
